The Culinary Heritage Project
The Common Table
- Purpose
- Bring people from different places, cultures or communities together through personal food memory.
- Suitable setting
- A congress, school, embassy, restaurant, or any table that is not only one kitchen.
- Suggested participants
- Whoever is in the room. No one speaks for a nation.
- Group size
- A handful to a hall.
- Approximate format
- Invitation, then one memory each. Share a memory. Explore the gathering.
- Host guidance
- Do not compare dishes as better or more authentic. Thank each speaker. Keep originals.
- Preservation prompts
- Add one food memory from your family, community or country to humanity’s living culinary memory.
- Suggested interview questions
- What should stay in the original language? Who may hear this?
- What to bring
- A memory. Optionally a photograph or a name of a dish in the original language.
- KinDish contribution methods
- Share a memory on this Event page. Speak, write, or upload. Video coming next.
- Privacy and consent
- A gathering is not a census. Privacy remains the speaker’s.
- What knowledge this event tries to preserve
- Personal food memories across cultures, without claiming official endorsement.
- Expected archival outcome
- A living gathering on KinDish. Contributions appear only when a speaker has actually preserved one.
