The Culinary Heritage Project
Community Recording Day
- Purpose
- Create a temporary preservation space where people can record culinary testimony.
- Suitable setting
- Hall, school, house of worship social room, embassy foyer, or library.
- Suggested participants
- Anyone who walks in. Hosts greet; they do not extract.
- Group size
- Open. Keep one quiet room if possible.
- Approximate format
- Welcome desk, consent, then Speak / Write / Upload. Video coming next.
- Host guidance
- Offer privacy choices before recording. Never display a live list of private names.
- Preservation prompts
- What food memory would you like to preserve today?
- Suggested interview questions
- Who should we thank? In which language should the original stay?
- What to bring
- Voice, a page, a photograph. Nothing else required.
- KinDish contribution methods
- Use Event Kiosk Mode if the room is public. Otherwise Preserve a memory on KinDish with this event selected.
- Privacy and consent
- A public room still allows a private record. Say so out loud.
- What knowledge this event tries to preserve
- Whatever the visitor chooses to leave: a dish, a person, a place, a recipe fragment.
- Expected archival outcome
- Many small originals from one day, each with this event as context on KinDish.
